Emmanuel became a Mexican singing sensation in the 1980s, with his fourth album Intimamente and hit songs like “Todo Se Derrumbo Dentro De Mi” and “Quiero Dormir Cansado.” He crossed over onto the United States’ radio airwaves with his single “La Chica de Humo,” which reached number one on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks. In 2011, Emmanuel received the Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2021, he was presented with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
